Criteria

Outstanding Educator
Using Technology Award

Each year, MICCA recognizes one educator from each Maryland school system, and from AIMS, the Association of Independent Maryland Schools, for his or her use of educational technology in the teaching and learning process. Each school system nominates an educator to represent the school system, and AIMS selects an educator to represent independent schools. Please be sure to determine the process for nominating and selecting a winner within your school system by contacting your MICCA liaison. The MICCA Technology Awards Committee chooses one of the nominated educators as the Outstanding Educator Using Technology of the Year. The recipient is honored at the MICCA spring conference and receives a technology award, thanks to the sponsorship of Dell Computer. The MICCA award winner is then nominated for the ISTE Outstanding Educator Using Technology Award.

Outstanding Technology Leader
in Education Award

Each year MICCA honors an outstanding technology leader in the state. This award recognizes an educator outside the classroom who has made exemplary contributions to the implementation of technology in Maryland schools. Only one nomination will be accepted from each Maryland school system, AIMS (the Association of Independent Maryland Schools), the Baltimore archdiocese, the Washington archdiocese, the Maryland State Department of Education and each higher education institution. Please be sure to determine the process for nominating and selecting a winner within your system, group or institution. The MICCA Technology Award Committee will select a state winner from the nominations received according to the scoring criteria provided online at www.miccaonline.org. The state award winner is honored at the MICCA spring conference, and receives a technology award, thanks to the sponsorship of Dell Computer. The MICCA award winner is then nominated for the ISTE Outstanding Technology Leader in Education Award.
