2009 MICCA Conference submissions for concurrent sessions, poster sessions and research/white papers are now closed. Accepted presenters will be notified by the beginning of March.
There are three types of sessions: Concurrent Sessions; Poster Sessions; and Research/White Papers.
Concurrent Sessions
Concurrent Sessions are 45 minutes in length and will take place in a closed room that can seat between 50 - 130 people. Concurrent sessions highlight successful programs, projects, ideas, and concepts of educators from all levels. Presenters are not expected to provide hands-on experiences. Questions? Contact:Julie Wray at julie_wray@hcpss.org or Mel McNamara at mel_mcnamara@hcpss.org.
Poster Sessions
Poster Sessions are informal, 1 hour, exhibit-style presentations focused on the sharing of curriculum, staff development, projects, promising practices, administrative ideas, and/or presentations which feature students sharing their classroom projects and activities. Research/White Paper Sessions
Research and White Paper Sessions are formal 45 minute presentations in a lecture or discussion format. Research papers are formal presentations of current or completed academic work. Research papers present reports of significant work or integrative reviews in research, development, design or application of work related to the organization missions and conference focus. All forms of inquiry including qualitative, quantitative and action research are eligible. White Papers are presentations by educators or companies to showcase a specific product, service or technique. A white paper session seeks to engage the audience by showing specific examples and using clear arguments. Often, a real-life testimonial is used to further substantiate the benefits of the product, service or technique.
Research Papers that address MICCA’s mission “to provide leadership and educator training for advancing meaningful uses of technology in educational communities of Maryland” will be eligible for the Best Research Paper Award. The recipient receives a $100 honorarium and a plaque
